The knowledge base

The part you never have to look at.

Every idea Benchmates hands you is written against a structured map of your brand: the concepts your category actually talks about and how they relate, each relationship carrying the source it came from. You will never query it or write a prompt against it. But it is what makes an idea specific instead of generic, so here it is.

Why a graph

A pile of documents only tells you what you already wrote down.

Most brand knowledge lives as pages: a strategy doc, a tone guide, a pile of research PDFs. That shape answers "what did we write about this" and nothing else. It cannot tell you that one ingredient keeps showing up next to a complaint, or that two things your customers mention together are never mentioned together by your competitors.

A typed graph stores the relationship itself, with a type on it and a source behind it. That you can query, and it is where an idea starts.

What it deliberately does not do

A true thing from two years ago is still true.

A fact leaves the graph because something replaced it, never because time passed. The lineup card is the whole mechanic: the name is struck out and the substitute is written in above it.

Nothing decays with age

A true thing about your brand from two years ago is still true. The graph never ranks a fact lower for being old, because age is not evidence.

A newer fact supersedes an older one

When something genuinely changes, the old claim is retired rather than quietly outweighed. Reformulate a product and the graph stops asserting the old formula.

Movement is measured separately

How much of something there is and how fast it is moving are different questions. The graph answers how much. A separate layer samples the same signal on a schedule to answer how fast.

Your graph gets built from your category, in the first weeks. You do not have to fill anything in.
